ATV RIDING TRAILS

The proposed Windfall Trail System will offer a wide variety of scenery from sand hills to dense forests and trails ranging from beginner, family-friendly trail riding to more advance technical riding. The Club’s goal is to scope out something for everyone to enjoy!

Future Vision & Growth

The Whitecourt ATV Club has a TFA (Temporary Field Authorization) for the old Windfall Town Site. Our plans reflect the commitment of ATV use within the Windfall area.

We all understand, the number one problem for ATV enthusiasts is finding
enough places locally to lawfully ride. That is why we are working diligently to get the first trail system approved by AEP (Alberta Environment & Parks).

Five Year Plan

Within five years, the Whitecourt ATV Club would be managing and maintaining a system of 8 to 10 trails each designated for specific uses such as:

  • Family-friendly trails
  • An approved event hosting trail
  • A staging area providing multiple uses such as parking, unloading, camping, and event hosting

Ten Year Plan

Within ten years, the Whitecourt ATV Club would be managing and maintaining a system of trails within the Windfall area that would include but not limited to:

  • A beginner track for young people to learn and be trained on the safe use of ATV’s. This would be an area where parents/guardians could oversee their progress
  • Several family oriented trails designed for the casual riding individuals, with not much technical difficulty to them
  • Two or more technical trails for the intermediate rider, designed to allow for some challenges but that are easily maintained and has little to no impact on the environment
  • Two or more staging areas with allowances for parking, unloading, camping, and event hosting
  • A motorsport park that would be large enough to allow for an extension of a rally to be held in a specific location, designed for specific use and not part of the trail system. The use would be to allow for a track, mud pits, sand pit, rock crawl area, and cleaning area. The park would be a specifically maintained area, and would not allow regular use unless there was an approved and managed event occurring.

Twenty Year Plan

Within twenty years, the Whitecourt ATV Club would be managing and maintaining a system of trails that would be available and accessible throughout the entirety of the Windfall Road and Groat Creek Road areas with the addition of two more staging areas, one with camping availability. A minimum of two trails that would lead from the Groat Creek staging area and connect to the Windfall area.

TRAIL MANAGEMENT

The Whitecourt ATV Club recognizes the importance of trail management, ecological preservation, and sustainability in all aspects of trail use.

The Whitecourt ATV Club is committed to sustainable trail management following guidelines and procedures as outlined by AEP (Alberta Environment & Parks).

All trails will be designed and maintained in such way as to minimize the environmental impact, preserve and protect an outdoor way of life, and promote education and stewardship of the lands that we are using.
